My around the world packing list

Make the impossible, possible

When it comes to my packing list, it’s maybe the thing which I thought most about it. I’m going on a trip around the world, and I want to carry only one big bag with me, how should that work? In my previous life, I had several cabinets full of clothes. I had so much, and now I should switch to only one bag? Well, what seemed to be impossible at first is now the reality, and everything I carry with me fits in my backpack. Ok, to be honest, I take two bags with me. My big backpack and a small bag in which I’ll put all my electronic devices and important things. 

What I considered while packing

The first thing to mention is that I couldn’t fit every single item in the bag for every situation and every climate. But let’s be serious, Europe isn’t the only place you can buy clothes and other things. So, if it gets too cold, I’ll buy myself another jacket or pullover. The other thing is that my parents can send me anything I need and with the express delivery from the post office it will arrive within 3-7 days in the city in which I am. With that in mind, let’s start. In the following, I’ll give you a list of all the items I’ll take with me:

The packing list¹

1. Documents

• Passport
• ID card
• Flight tickets
• Money
• Credit card (I got mine from DKB because it is free, and you can withdraw money worldwide for free)
• Documents for my international health insurance
• Vaccination certificate (You’ll need an international one, available in every hospital)
• International driving license
• National driving license
• A list with all the significant telephone numbers on it (Parents, Embassy and to block my credit cards)
• Pass photos (Very important to get Visas on arrival)

2. Clothes

• 10 pairs of underwear
• 10 pairs of socks
• 4 normal T-shirts
• 6 sports T-shirts (They dry very fast and are light)
• 1 pair of running shorts
• 2 jeans (Black because you can wear it in combination with everything)
• 1 black belt
• 4 shorts
• 2 jeans shorts
• 1 rain jacket
• 1 Fleece-pullover
• 1 pair of swimming trunks
• 4 travel towels²
• 1 normal pair of shoes
• Luna Sandals
• Running shoes

3. Body care products:

• A piece of soap³
• Deodorant
• Toothbrush
• Toothpaste

• Nausea and vomiting pills

1. I divided my list into 6 Categories (Documents, Cloths, Body care products, Medication, electronic devices, and other things)
2. These travel towels are light, they absorb a lot of water and dry fast. In addition to that they are small and don’t take to much space)
3. I don’t take liquid soap with me as it is too heavy and takes to much space away. A piece of soap is as good and far lighter and smaller.
4. It sounds like a lot of pills, but I hope I don’t need them. But I like to be prepared for all the cases. And let’s be honest if I don’t get sick once in all that time I would be a superhero, so I’ll be prepared for everything.
5. This sleeping bag is very light and thin. I take it with me for moments where I have to sleep in beds which are not proper or if I have to sleep one night at the airport or so.

 

Maybe I forgot some minor things, but as I said in the beginning, I can always buy new and other stuff on the road if it is necessary. I got a secure place for my passport and Visa card, and I can lock up my bags anywhere that’s the most important thing. For a bad illness I got antibiotics, and for all other diseases I have a good health insurance, so I should be covered for the worst, but let’s just hope for the best.
